Welcome to the 1st Annual Boom or Bust Ultra, a high-desert trail race set just on the outskirts of Pioche Nevada at the newly constructed single-track MTB Prospector Trails. The course is a 14 mile semi-challenging loop incorporating 12.5 miles of Prospector’s Trails and a short 1.5 quad two-track road to make up the 14 miles and with1440 feet of elevation gain & loss per lap. As you traverse the course, you are promised great views of our beautiful high-desert valley and showing off our many mountain ranges.
The 2026 Boom or Bust Ultra race will be on Saturday, June 13th and will offer 3 ultra distances for you to choose from; 100 miler, 60 miler, & 30 miler.

Start Times & Cut-Off Times:
100 miler ~ 6:00 am Mass Start ~ 34 hrs (20:24 m/m pace), Cut-off 4pm on Sunday the 14th.
60 miler ~ 7:00 am Mass Start ~ 20 hrs (20:00 m/m pace), Cut-off 3am on Sunday the 14th.
30 miler ~ 8:00 am Mass Start ~ 10 hrs (20:00 m/m pace), Cut-off 6pm on Saturday the 13th.

Can drop down a distance at check-in/packet pickup, no dropping down a distance once you’ve started your race. If distance can’t be completed, it will be a “DNF”, did not finish.
Sunrise and Sunset for the 13th & 14th, 5:15am & 8:00pm
Custom-made awards to the top 3 male & top 3 females in each distance, belt buckles to all 100 mile finishers.
Aid station every 3 to 4 miles.
Race finish food & socializing about race.
Nice single-track MTB trails to run and well marked course.
Beautiful scenery with mountain and valley views.
Course & Aid Station:
Total Miles: The Trail Run Course will be approximately 14 miles in length and total miles will depend on the distance you choose, maximum distance 100 miles and the minimum 30 miles. Will run course counterclockwise.
100 milers will log 7 laps, 98 miles, and a short out & back lap up Boom or Bust trail of 2 miles to equal 100 miles.
60 milers will log 4 laps, 56 miles, and a short out & back lap up Boom or Bust trail of 4 miles to equal 60 miles.
30 milers will log 2 laps, 28 miles, and a short out & back lap up Boom or Bust trail of 2 miles to equal 30 miles.
Trail Run Course (Descriptions from Trailforks – Mileage from RD’s run of the course):
For the First Lap ONLY >>Start on Access Rd 1- 0.60 mi to Access Rd 2 – 0.25 mi turn right onto Treasure Hill Trail
*this start on access 2-track rd will allow runners to spread out before hitting single-track. This will only be for the start lap 1, not the remain laps, 2-7. Laps 2-7 from start/finish Trail Head, Treasure Hill Trail, 3.25 miles
6-way intersection – Aid Station & Check-in Area, @mile 3.25
Silver Summit & Claim Jumper, 3.75 miles
6-way intersection – Aid Station & Check-in Area @mile 7.0
Gold Fever & Access Rd 001, 4 miles
6-way intersection – Aid Station & Check-in Area @mile 11.0
Boomtown Trail to Parking lot/Trailhead/Start Finish area, 3.0 miles
Finish of one full lap, approximately 14 miles
All distances will have a short out & back on Boom or Bust Trail (described above).
Participants must check in at start / finish / timing area before heading out to another lap.
There will be 2 aid stations. Mineshaft Aid Station is the only aid station runner will come across each lap, placed at the 6-way intersection (of all trails within the course) and runners will come across this aid station 3 times per each lap. The Mining Camp Aid Station will be at the start/finish area.Both aid stations will be stocked with food, broth, fruit, soda, water, Tailwind Electrolytes, & more.
Pacers are allowed for the 100 miler & 60 miler starting on the 4th lap (mile 42) at the Mining Camp area (start/finish).
Runners 60 and older may have a pacer their whole race.
Pacers must start and end at the Mining Camp area (start/finish). Only one pacer with a runner at a time.
No mule-ing.
All pacers must complete the free registration to be allowed to pace runner.
During your registration, you may purchase an event shirt.
Timing & DNF:
For all each distance there will be a mass start and will be timed by gun time. We time off participants bib. Every participant must have bib visible to the timers each time they come in from a lap. Each participant is required to check-in with timers before heading back out onto the course for their next lap. If timers can’t see the bib number nor the participant check-in, participant can worry the race event staff and possibly be DQ’d. MUST HAVE BIB VISIBLE TO TIMING STAFF!
DNF – If you decide to not finish the distance you registered for, you may get a finisher medal to commemorate the miles you did accomplish; but you will be a DNF in the results; and you will not be in contention for awards for the shorter distance/s.
